Thanx again for your help and advice was very useful....

Left Santa Ponsa Wed morning 0630, having filled up to the brim, sea flat calm.... easy ride to the "turn at Dragonera... expecting a bit of a bumpy ride.... but nothing... swell was evident from the days of wind, but boat was easilty able to maintain 25knts.

Engines run beautifully, with the "new" readouts showing 68 - 75ltr/hr per engine so I figured that would give us circa 13.5 hrs running with no reserve.. I wasn't sure I'd spent £2,000 well when I had them installed, but I found the readings (boost pressure, engine temp, oil etc together with the corresponding graphs very reassuring)...even if they are not as accurate as one would like.. it gave me some peace of mind however.

With what was a relatively calm and easy ride we hd originally planned to head for Palamos and then hug the coast before entering gulf du lion, so we stuck to the plan. saw very few other vessels out there, and was fairly uneventful trip to Palamos.

We reached the Spanish coast after approx 7hrs averaged 21knts.. used 1100 litres so had just under half tanks.... decided to push on to Leucate..

Gulf du Lion was not as lumpy as I was expecting, but was still a litltle uncomfortable so had to slow to 18 - 20 knts.

Eventually got to Port Leucate 3.5 hours later...

Only to arrive to find the, the crane was buggered.. so couldn't get the boat lifted.
as we were tired we refuelled (from nearly empty) and stayed the night.

Had planned for Canet just in case, so next morning went there... but the truck couldn't get in by road to collect... so ended up going to Saint Cyprien....

Boat was fantastic, not problems and was a comfortable if tiring journey..transport left a few hours later than planned , but still made it...

Crazy to bring it back..... I too was seduced by the 2 hour flights, £45.00 cost, beautiful warm weather blue med etc etc....

The reality however is that from door to door it is 8 hours... if easy jet aren't delayed!! Its a mad dash from the ofifce on Thursday pm, to get a decent break...

Its never as cheap coz I don't book flights months in advance, took my kids out for half term... 4 tickets £730.. then there's the agro of hiring a car once your there, the fuel is more expensive and the moorings are much more so!

So all in, I was paying considerably more to use the boat considerably less, for the sake of few warm weeknds in the Med..great if you've got the time to spend weeks out there.. I haven't.

Wasn't a difficult decision to return .... oh and I actually really like "Puerto Solento" and all the guys on "D".. great bunch.

Sounds good. Fule use seems about right, that was 0.6mpg

In support of easyjet, they're hardly ever late. From March to mid september I went to France every 2nd weekend without fail, and was only late about twice (once by 1 hour, once by 2.5hrs). Their punctuality is pretty outstanding and compares favourably with the delay risk of drivng north on A3/M3 back to London from S Coast on a Sunday night!

Yeah, mjf told me the story... and thatyou cleaned his teak decks too, with some special stuff!! fancy doing mine?

Jfm, I flew to Mallorca 9 times this year and was only on time twice!... perhaps better routing to SOF. Only take me 1.5hrs to get back from PS...

But you can never compare the weather.. it just a choice of being able to use the the boat more often here, than I can in the Med.

ah, but i only cleaned his decks in exchange for drinking all his wine, being unpleasant to one of his mates, and onboard entertainment comprising his next door neighbour impaling his boat on mjf's anchor. A fairly hefty price, really.

you can find the same stuff at wessex chemicals, google for website. you wantthe two part, stuff, and dilute that.

That wessex stuff is very good and they deliver if you can't get it locally.
