Sorry about start time .... bloody poll decided to start 7 hrs later than I set it for !!

Bloody poll itself did that !!!

I set start for 0700 16th August .... when it displays - its 1400 !!! Not first time it did this to me !!

Need a hand ??

Honest - Forum system changed the start time .... and of course Poll cannot be edited once submitted !!!!

This one should die of now and let's get onto the second attempt one that does work !!

You haven't got anything in there about engine checks. I do mine quite religously even though it is less than a year old. On a flotilla holiday some years back we were taught a corny acronym to help us remember everything.... which I forgot as soon as we left that boat.

When we bought our own boat I created my own acronym to make sure I don't forget anything. The order of events is:-

Diesel - is there more than enough in the tank for the planned passage, and is the spare can full?
Oil - Check the level and top up if necessary
Water - Check the fresh water level, and open sea cock.
Leaks - anything under the engine that wasn't there before? Nothing from oil filter seal, etc.
Stern Gland - as many turns on the greaser as required
Belts - check the tension is still OK
Batteries - which one is to be used today. No longer a big issue, as we now have a dedicated engine start battery, and switchable for services.
Ignition - set throttle, apply heaters if necessary, turn the key!
Exhaust - cooling water OK? Any smoke?

How do you remember that lot, I hear you ask? Easy, its
