Lesson for Today

I tried to start my engine today on the hard, and water poured out of it.

Buggeration frost damage, I thought, cracked block? Looking more closely it was pouring out of the intake, cracked head?
Sit down, contemplate a new engine. After my heart rate returned to normal, I thought things over and the penny dropped.
I normally run the engine cooling water out of a bucket. To save time I had stuffed the water hose up the engine intake and this flooded the exhaust and backflooded the engine.
I was lucky but my short cut cost me a full day to put things right.

Lesson for today.
