At 6am tues am our boat is off to france from Viareggio. The skipper bloke who i have not yet met is bringing it, along with too people from MAN, the engine bods. Also, some people have enquired about chartering it. I got a call on the mobile whilst brushing up on driving quciklyish along french motorways. "We hef an enquiry from some one who would like to rent it for 6 weeks" says the nice lady. Tolder to tellem to buy their own boat.

But what fun it will be!! And all for the price of a very small house in Bolton, Lancashire.*

Fishing party

Have recommended leopard to local angling club, said it would make a change from smelly, rusty old boat from Weymouth. Expect it was them who enquired, are there still fish to be caught in the Med?

Do you supply bait in the price, they prefer ragworm and peeler crabs.

Re: Fishing party

No fishKnives, unfortunately, otherwise it would have been an excellent idea. Oh hell! Do you think that perhaps that was the six week enquiry - your mates from Weymouth? Hence the six weeks - needed to get to St Aubin's Head area where I hear the fishing is quite decent, and return the boat to the med?

Re: Fishing party

Was that no fishknives or no fishwives? Presume it has bait wells otherwise they'll stay in Weymouth!

They thought they might just get across to Jamaica in 6 weeks, praps you could take it back?

Re: Fishing party

St Albans? A bit of your normal route I would have thought. Suppose you've done Marseille and the private jet articles so next one in the Port of Call's St Albans is it?

"The approach to St Albans can be attractive if from the south, though ensure that the Macdonalds is left well to starboard and take care when navigating past the Verulamium since there can be quite a cross current"......no doesn't seem to have the same appeal.

So do we take it that you're en-route to accept delivery of it in Antibes or wherever? Bet you're really excited and not slept for days and days, I know I would.

Have checked with Easyeject and made block booking for all forum contributors (50 seats on-hold) to depart this Friday evening from Gatwick, £46 out, but £146 back Sunday night. So for £200 we've all got a nice weekend playing on the boat with you and pointing out all the broken\crappo Fairline ripped off bits.

Won't that be fun eh? Bet you can't wait for us all to arrive.

Byron's in charge of counting the cutlery, jfm's sorting out the telly and the nav kit, I'll make the tea, Haydn's in the engine room checking things and LJ's doing the worm drowning. Dom's bringing the Soltron, it's all he drinks these days, apparantly stops him furring up and Pauline'll be sunbathing in the Solarium. Who else is doing what?

Re: Menton next

No, not St Alban's, misspelled or otherwise!

But Iunderstand that next months MBY will have an article on Menton. Which, by the sound of it will be very very witty and very informative indeed. And this time, as a slight departure from the normal MBY format, instead of the usual pilotage notes, there will be a special section detailing the private life and peccadilloes of the local harbourmaster, including pictures! And you know how close in that Lester Mccarthy likes to get, hmm? Much more useful for getting a decent berth I think? I do hope this bit doesn't get subedited out like all the traditional local Marseillais donkey-related jokes were , which translated very well, I thought.

So why arn't you with it during the move? Pouring over all the WX charts for the Med? Does having a skipper on board mean that you are relagated to line holding? Or does he live in a hutch next to the engine and only come out when you are in trouble - which given your surfing abilities should be often <G> IMHO of course!

Did you say that the formal hand over is in early March? Ribbon cutting ceromony etc.. Just consider me really, really jelous. Lucky bugger.

Havoc, fire, confusion, and mis-trust, yes my work here is done...

Re: quite right stewart!

erm well it's not actually delivered yet, that's their job. Also I fancy that i wil be a bit useless with that lot on board, as they must have done the trip 50 times or more. Finally, they're setting off at 6am.

Re: Fishing party

I shall just continue spitting with rage that the spotty cat has been completed before my trawler yacht (fishing parties not accepted except by prior arrangement). Actually the skipper flies out tonight (at Grand Bank's expense) for a weeks handover in S'pore.
