Someone mentioned to me that every 1m in length on a typical flybridge/sports boat of the Uk main builders gives 25% increase in internal volume.

This means that moving from a 12m boat to 16m boat will give double the space on board.

Is this roughly correct please?

In terms of cost it seems to correlate (40ft =£300K, 50ft = £600K), before marina,insurance,fuel and servicing..........

I thought this only holds true for vessels up to around 12 mtrs.. then its a diminishing return.... obviously a boat of 34 mtrs doesnt have twice the volume of a 30 mtr .. there must be a mathematician on here who could work it out.

Volume = Length x breadth x height x 1/2 (for the hull)

!/2 because the boat tapers from top to bottem assumed symetrically like a triangle so only use 1/2 when this is the case ie hull but not saloon. Each section i e hull, superstructure etc will need to be calculated separately and then added.
