Has anyone been to this Marina? It doesn't seem to be mentioned in East Coast Rivers or East Coast Pilot, yet looks very easy to get to from Central London.

We're at Gillingham over the winter and may well stay there for next season, but this looks an interesting alternative (purely based on location), does anyone have any views (positive or negative)?

Also, one thing that confused me on their website is that it suggests the slipway fee is £150 each way, I presume I'm misunderstanding this as that can't be right...can it?

is this near Southend

I can see it from my house. Right next to the station. Perfect location except for two things:

1. No water (OK a bit damp at HW)
2. People who understand about boats (the owner prefers plant and machinery in his yard).

Oh - third thing:
3. It is on the Thames which has very few places to visit other than up the Medway or the Swale and nowhere except Bell Wharf (half a mile away) to come alongside.

I wouldn't recommend it (from my observation and previous threads). It's a shame because Leigh-on-Sea is a lovely place.

Our first trip down to the Medway was yesterday (we didn't actually get to go out as the boat is sitting in the yard at Gillingham), it looked great out there from the bar though :-)

Yeah the Thames is pretty dire at the Estuary end, but Leigh-on-Sea is so close to get too, thats the appeal. But if the marina isn't that great it does sort of change things a bit :-(

sea water is also a real bonus :D

Is this for a rib? Well then you would have an hour, perhaps more, either side of HW. Unless they have changed it recently the pontoons were not secure. It is right next to the station - worth a modest train fare to investigate. I'll even buy you a pint at one of the four pubs in short walking distance. Arrive at HW or two hours before to see what it is really like.

Their website site say it is under new management while at the same declaring it to be a family business for 20 years!

It is for a RIB, yep, but HW+/-1 doesn't sound great, hmm but like you say, may be worth a trip to investigate.

Ha, yeah intresting paradox on the website!

Cool, if I come up, I may hold you to that pint ;-)
