has anybody got any idea how many hours a good pair of well maintained,non turbo,,135hp,6cyl,,lehmanns should be good for,,

Don't know about the particular engine but well maintained diesels will go on for a very long time. I had Perkins in my last boat and the same engine used to run a power plant was said to do thousands of hours before needing any major work.

Based on Ford Cargo's, 6 pots, will go forever. Usual provisions apply, i.e. regular oil changes and care.

I have the 150 tubo's same engine as the lehman ones the "d" series fords designed in the 60's.They smoke like hell until warmed up as you probably know. My boat is a 1978 - 28 years old and is still going strong touch wood. These engines were used in big trucks and do hundreds of thousands of miles in their lives, the use given in a boat is a fraction of that in a truck so in thery it they should last for a very long time in a boat
