I wanted to know cost of diesel per litre planning to cross in a few days time .I received info that the price had been rising in the french channel ports
it's going to have moved somewhere between the price of red and the price of white in the UK as there duty is about halfway between our 5% on red and the full road use stuff.
On that basis I would expect around 15-20% increase on this time last year to reflect underlying oil prices.
I have maintained for years that Holidays in France are self financing to a certain extent, yes fuel is 70-80% more but if you leave full and return on reserve then the savings on Marina fees (compared with English South coast marinas) outweighs the extra fuel cost.
Further if you fill up with wine and beer you can make further savings. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
Other bargains to look out for 5L of Total TCW 111 2 T oil £7 /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif
rick / pete glad you posted those figures as they are consistent with my theoretical post - which the only other practical one didn't seem to be...........
Arfie,
Correct , done this region last year & the most exp fuel we had was from the Deauville yacht club fuel pontoon, better is to go inside the deauville/trouville channel at high water and at the end there is a road/boat fuel station with a much lower price think its BP but not shure, difference was huge last year as i just refueled at the deauville yacht club... /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gifahrrrrr. better to know..., they wont catch me this time! /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif
Sorry chaps, my mistake.
I have a diesel car now but when we did the trip to S France it was petrol.
The price I quoted was petrol price on the road at the time.
