Thinking about replacing tri-colour bulb with LED, it seems that an all round White light is not the way forward and a replacement LED bulb should be tri-coloured. Not sure why as it replaces a single halogen bulb where colour separation was enabled by the lense not the bulb?

However given that the replacement is to be a tri-colour bulb that is aligned with the colours in the lense of the light, can anyone confirm that the tri-colour LED bulb in the link below would work:

The LED bulb is to replace Hellamarine bulb 8GA 003 488-1200-30 12V 25W. It is a Bay 15d fitting.

Grateful if someone could do a quick sanity check on this option.

Have a look here. I think you will find the answers you seek. Owner of the business posts on the Forums and I have had good service from Boatlamps in the past. No connection other than as a customer.

Thanks Pinnacle - very useful and also answers the question over coloured v white light, I am 9m so warm white it is.

In cool white this LED lamp can be used for stern, steaming and mast head anchor light elements of tri colour lights for all boats up to 20 metres. Do not use cool white lamps behind separate red or green lens or combined bi colour lights as the output colours will not be correct.

In warm white it is suitable to use behind the bi-colour red and green combined lenses for boats up to 12 metres.
