I'm looking to put LED deck level nav lights on the boat but looking for recommendations.

I've seen Aquasignal 34s which look decent in the flesh

There's Hella NaviLED which are priced similar to the Aquasignal and Osculati Evolved which are about half the price of the other two but I havent seen either to make a judgement.

All look like they're Colreg 72 approved.

Or there's generic ebay jobbies but I would rather have something well made but affordable.

Any thoughts or suggestions?

I fitted these Sea-Dog ones two years ago, as I found the Aquasignal/Hella/Boatshow stuff to be an obscene ripoff: http://www.sea-dog.com/groups/1195-led-top-mount-side-lights

I got the stainless ones, and they're quite nice, easy to fit, very bright, completely waterproof (they're on the bow and have been submerged plenty) and still nice and shiny. And working, of course. Would recommend. Oh, and you can step on them if you must, they're strong enough.

Osculati is a distributor for them, so available at most chandleries or directly from www.yachtshop.eu

I bought a pair of Lalizas ones a couple of years back to replace a set I’d bought off fleabay which were still working but looking tired. These ones https://www.lalizas.com/product/32-...s-led-20-set-port-starboard-sidelights-112-5o. Paid about £35 iirc in the chandlers where they were on special offer. Fitted them to the pulpit using clamps and a bit of aluminium bar to drop them down slightly and get the angles right. Nice and bright, good colour. No idea where To get them now though!

My problem with LED nav lights is that most that I've seen in chandlers seem to come with about 8 inches of cable sticking out the back - how to connect this properly and "waterproofly" inside a pulpit/pushpit tube eludes me.

I fitted an Osculati Sphera bi-colour LED light on the bow. I don't recall precisely how much cable it came fitted with but I think it was something like a metre - in my case, sufficient that I could make the first cable join below decks. So far I'm very happy with the light and will fit them again next time a light needs replacing. I looked on-line but couldn't find a specification of the cable length - in your place, I would call a chandler that stocks them and ask them to check.

I replaced the festoon bulbs in mine with LED versions - much cheaper and easier than replacing the whole lamp. I think mine were Hella and the bulbs were a strange fitting so I had to unsolder a sort of sleeve off of the caps and use it on the new ones. Easy to do and didn't have to solder onto new ones. BTW festoon bulbs come in several lengths : make sure you get the right one! I got mine from Boatlamps.

On my boat to get the cable joint back into the cabin would need almost 2 metres - existing light has connections inside the bicolour fitting itself. A metre might just get it back into the anchor locker, but a pretty horrible place to have a joint.

Just an update I took the plunge and ordered a set of the Aquasignal jobbies from BabaYaga's link. Turned up fast and I measured the wire at 145cm long on so should be plenty long enough to make the connection below deck, they also came with bootlace terminals already on which I thought was a nice touch.
