I have 24V and bought similar for my cupboards in a galley refit. They are actually sold for lorry trailer side lamps so quite cheap. Yes, a great buy and work well.

How do they compare for brightness with traditional mini fluorescents?
Just looking to replace those on my boat as the water has got into them again

I would suggest that they are at least as bright. The ones in my link make a dark, under sink cupboard (I used two) bright.

Just tested ONE of these and its waaaaaay brighter that a std 8watt fluorescent tube. Great for late night reading;-)

I've just fitted a couple of LED strip lights in the engine compartment, with a car courtesy light switch so they switch on when the cover is lifted. Excellent bright, even illumination. Less than a fiver from http://www.banggood.com/2X-50cm-5W-...f-Rigid-Strip-Cabinet-Light-12V-p-940643.html

According to the ebay listing they are 7000-8000K - if that is correct then it is a very blue light

For cupboards, lockers, etc, these LED PIR strip lights are good. Battery-powered, so no wiring. Self-adhesive mounting. PIR switches light on when it senses movement.
