I need a power plane for some small work and am considering this:

Has anyone any experience of these or any other small cheap alternative?
I know about tools generally and a Makita would be great but 30 quid is the budget. Tho I could be tempted to spend 50ish on a really strong recommendation.
In the old days one would go to the shop and look at the item and form a view but this is not now so easy - thanks for any suggestions.

I don't know about the planer, but i did buy a von haus orbital sander for a small job and didn't want to spend too much money. Apart from being a bit noisy, the machine worked really well and i ended up using it to sand the hull of my boat prior to painting over the dull gelcoat. The sander is still going great. If you register your purchase on line, you get a 3 year warranty! Hope this helps. I have no links with von haus, just pleased with my purchase.

Aldi have one for the same price and 3yrs warranty.[URL="https://www.aldi.co.uk/workzone-900w-electric-planer/p/085585223920900"
I have one and it is fine.
Put this as a link but doesn't seem to work

I 've got a cheapo, which I used when changing all my doors at home. Worked well & easy to use.

I have a cheapo one it must be 10 years old, "it can run away with you if you get too enthusiastic" I told my mate but he still managed to plane 20mm off a door one end and nothing off the other, his missus was well pleased!

I got the Aldi one, so thanks Sealegsjim. It was nice to go along and see the thing.
I'm a bit out of love with internet card transactions as well, as I had to cancel my card with the ASAP business.

Tried it a bit, seems to work very smoothly, it will be fine for what I want.

Thanks for all the responses.
