Have you got one?
How does one tell if it original and not fake?
I bought mine on web and I am wondering.
E.g.
If you hold yours so you can read LEATHERMAN WAVE, then rotate it 90 degs, you might see the words PAT PEN you might also see a rounded over rivet. Do you? Now, are the words PAT PEND very well defined or not?

Hi!

I have a Leatherman Wave it looks like this

LEATHERMAN
PAT PEND WAVE TM

Leatherman Wave is in big letters whereas Pat Pend is in much smaller text and the TM is slightly bigger than the Pat Pend text size.

All of the wording is well stamped and very clear.

If you open the Leatherman fully you should also see Leatherman and USA opposite the Leatherman wording stamped on both sides of the pliers.

Dunno if this means anything but when I open all the screwdrivers, scissors and stuff in the channel where they sit there are some numbers in each handle channel (if you know what I mean) they are: 0899 for the left hand side and 1199 for the right hand side.

Maybe this is when they were cast, it's worth looking.

I hope you have a genuine item as they are outstanding tools, I never leave shore without it.

Yep, the details noted by Capt Haddock are exactly the same as mine except the 'channel' numbers, which on mine (at least the one I'm looking at, 'cos I have two of them) is 700 in both channels.

Incidentally, the LEATHERMAN WAVE etc, is stamped on BOTH channels.

Thanks for that, chap, but I forgot- I meant the new version of the wave. It feels like a great tool, but a couple of things make me wonder if it is a real one.
