leather turnbuckle covers

Anyone made their own leather shroud turnbuckle covers? Any tips? Found some on google which had velcro strips - could you glue velcro to leather or would it need to be sewn?

I've made leather chafing covers for ropes before which are not dissimilar to a turnbuckle cover. Velcro was quite easy to stitch to the leather - assuming of course you have a machine man enough to go through the leather.
Very easy and satisfying.

Presumably the leather is thin and the turnbuckles not so large. In which case the problem with velcro is the build up of thickness of 2 pieces of velcro, (the hook and the pile ) and the thickness of their mating.
I reckon you may get a tidier job by handstiching or lacing the leather together to make a cover. Once on you will only slide it up out of the way and not remove it I would think. olewill

Maybe lacing is the way to go. I've got plenty of leather (I got an entire hide yesterday in Tetouan, Morocco for 150 dirhams, about 10 quid!) so maybe I'll try a few options, see what works best.

Yes, we have.
We used pale blue/grey leather (came free).
They are cut to shape, soaked, and then stitched with twin threads cris crossed.
