Hi all, had my benateau antares 9 for three years now when out in lumpy conditions starboard window leaks badly it has done this from new ,even after local dealer said he had fixed it but had not
i had agood look today.the window is held into the moulding with what looks like double sided security tape then locked in by the opening window runner.the question is does anyone know what
this tape is called and were can i get some thanks. Also if anyone
has got d4 or d6 with stern drive i bought some compressor oil by mistake(d4 shaftdrive does not have compressor )can have it for small donation to rnli. Pm me if anyone wants it .£19 quid for quarter litre. :):):)

If it’s like mine, it’s not tape but the same bonding as the two front screens (just like car windscreens) the Benny 5 year sailing for pleasure warranty for the hull construction should still cover this especially as you reported it some time ago. I assume you have a 225hp D4 which has no compressor, it’s on the 260 even when shaft drive, nothing to do with it being stern drive.

If you've had the window assembly out, why not take it out again and stick it in with Sikaflex ?

hi paul was thinking about that but you need to keep the spacing
right so that the sliding window seals against the fixed panel.
Also you can only get silicon gun around inside on the outside
you are restricted by flybridge over hang so you could not get neat finish thanks anyway paul.

No silicone no Sikiflex..........

Use CT1 to sort that window .....not expensive and old low tech Stikimuck.

CT1 do a clear sealer at around £9.00 a tube and it really is clear. Will actually set under water so damp window frame no obstical.
If you do not want to take windows out, clean window/frame joint and mask off with tape leaving a tiny 4mm or so strip exposed over glass/rubber frame joint and apply clear CT1.
Will seal window and sealant will practically vanish.
Did my entire leaky Princess 33 windows a few years ago with excellent results and done with bit of care even fussy so and so cannot tell what has been done.
Spend 3/4 mins watching this.

if you don't want to go the adhesive route, how about this :

another thought, as it should be covered by warranty, why not try an email to beneteau, explain the problem and the already dodgy fix. Suggest they send you a roll of the stuff they use and you'll do it yourself.

thanks paul i"vejust emailed dickies they are going to send for some sealing tape.

thanks oldgit will try if dickies cannot get new tape.

try s10 tape.
we use it when replacing glass in motor homes, classic car's etc....

and the most important thing when doing this kind of work is to make sure both contact surfaces are clean and dry..
