Leaky injector

I have a 3 cylinder Kubota diesel driving a generator. The centre injector has a bit of fuel bubbleing at its base. I pulled the injector and there is no copper washer at the base. None in the workshop manual diagrams either. How does one go about repairing this? I tried just cleaning the contact surfaces but this had no effect.

Its unusual but you do occasionally find injectors that rely on the copper 'pocket' of the injector to accomplish sealing instead of a copper washer. This 'pocket' is driven or shrunk into the cyl-head creating a gas tight fit between the cooling spaces and the cyl-head. The injector then gets clamped down into the copper 'pocket' making a seal between the base of the pocket and the injector and,... the pocket and the cyl-head.
I would first-of all make sure of where the fuel is bubbling from...is it bubbling from the screwed inlet connection at the injector or from between the injector/pocket?
If it bubbling from between the pocket and injector, i would suspect the injector is in need of over-haul as it is leaking internally.
Hope this helps
Simon

Might be worth taking one of the others out and checking that. One of mine did something similar and the copper washer was stuck down the injector well,it was a real bugger to get out, hooked it out with a snap on pick in the end.

I would suggest that it could be the injector body itself, swap two injectors over see if the problem follows the suspect one.

I dont know what kubota injectors look like, but bosch injector bodies are screwed to gether, if this is not done properly (maybe due to age) the body could leak.

If the injector does not seal in the head, you are likely to get black sooth blowing back rather than fuel, but maybe I dont understand kubota engine/heads/injectors.

OK Unit 18 was the closest. There is a copper washer, I just could not see it. The engine is mounted to one side of the engine bay, the only way to view in the injector hole is with a light and a mirror. Scraping the top with a screw driver showed the copper washer. Scraping around the edge eventually loosened it off. It seems that when I had the injector out previously, a bit of loose carbon had fallen on top of the washer causing a poor seal.
Thanks for all the replies.
