Sorry to be bore, but I still have a calorifier that leaks or rather spurts hot water thru the PSV. It may be linked with using the water pump.

Could there be a problem with the Accumulator in the fresh water system? The freshwater system has been allowed to get emptyish, and thus perhaps air has been trapped?

Below is a description of what an accumulator tank does.

"Pre-pressurised tank reduces the cycling pulsation and pressure spikes.
Increases the pump's life and saves battery power."

When I get the calorifier PSV spurting water in pulses, am I right in thinking it might be something to do with the accumulator tank not functioning?

Do they wear out, or loose their inherant pressure??

Regards

Have you checked the pressure switch on the pump? or is it one in the pipework? Dont forget that every time you heat the water it expands and the release valve works. I have a pipe from the P.R.V. that vents out the engine room vent grille,s.I dont know what pump you have got but the pressure switch is usually on the end of pump.

I think it's unlikely to be the accumulator. However the accumulator behaves the peak pressure in the system will depend on the cutout setting of the pressure switch on the pump. The pressure at which the pump cuts out must be less than the pressure the PRV opens at. Maybe the pump's pressure switch is dodgy?
