A friend has developed a small leak on his Avon Redcrest type dinghy. The leak is at the join of the floor and the rear tube at the point the angle changes to form the transom tube. Even deflated it is proving difficult to get at the leak to place a patch due position. Has any one come across this before and if so what is the solution?

Had a customer 3/4 years ago with a similar problem of the puncture being too near a join to patch. I remember him telling me, because he was so pleased that he'd got it fixed, and that he'd taken it to a vinyl/pvc welding firm who ran a new weld around the leak. Sorry, here's the crunch I can't remember their name now but try Yellow Pages and the Internet. I think that particular company were in the East End of London, but there are bound to be others.

I exactly the same thing with my zodiac, the local firm wanted to reattach the wole seam which was very expensive at the time.
In the end i used Super glue Gel with the boat deflated.

That was four years ago and it is still good.

steve.

p.s. its good for small holes (pinpricks) in the floor

Sika flex kept our Zodiac floor attached for over 6 months of live aboard use, bit messy though and it does need to be dry...( the Zodiac dealer recomended it as the dinghy was too old and knackered to repair.
