The Shurflo pump on my fresh water system has started to drip. The water appears to be coming from a join near the bottom of the pump - there does not appear to be a gasket, but does anyone know if there is one? I have tried tightening up the screws on the bottom without success. If no gasket could I dismantle and use some sort of sealant?

I took mine out for the same reason 2 years ago. I took it apart and the motor looked perfect and I cleaned the calc off the diaphragm. But however I assembled it, I still had a slight leak. I then coated one side with a smear of red hematite and reassembled it. For two seasons, say 2500 miles and about 20 weeks full time aboard, it hasn't leaked. I think that just before the problem it may have been distorted by freezing.

Depends which ShurFlow pump.. There may be a pressure switch mechanism at the bottom, as well as an inlet fixing and an outlet... Could be leaking at any one of these three points...

Not too difficult to remove the whole pump assembly once drained, dismantle all parts and re-assemble correctly (even if it's with a dab of lubricant over the existing o-rings)....

Had a similar problem when I bought the boat. It turned out to be frost damage, and so I ought a switch assembly for about £20. Dont remember a gasket, but I would remove the pump and disassemble - a small leak can be fixed with a home made gasket. Mine by the way only leaked when the pump was working, and the frost had cracked the plastic

I've got what seems like the same leak from the same place on a Shurflo Aquaking Standard Model No. 2095-423-243 made in 1999.

Decided to remove it and dismantle it tomorrow and reseal with some red Hermetite. However, just over 2 years later, it seems that red Hermetite has been discontinued.

What should I use?

I've read that it's been succeeded by something called Red Hylotite, although I can't confirm that's so.
I've always found Blue Hylomar less messy and more effective, anyway, although it's intended for use where clearances are quite small so is less tolerant of the "slap a load on and hope for the best" approach.
