I have just sailed my newly acquired 9' Bobbin dinghy for the first time, and it seems to be leaking at the bung I think. Bung washer seems ok, so going to renew the plate and bung. Does anyone know what size this is, is it a standard fitting etc etc. What does this need to be bedded in ? Thanks. Also, not sure I have the main sheet rigged properly, I tied it off to one rear deadeye with a pully and shackle on the other, does anyone know a better way ? Progress upwind was difficult, light wind, any comments ??

What you describe (I think) is one way of doing it.
On our Bobbin the two deadeyes are joined by a rope 'horse' that passes over the top of the tiller. The mainsheet double block's shackle runs on the horse. The mainsheet begins at the becket of the single block on the end of the boom.
As for sailing upwind, are you using a daggerboard and do you have a jib? Upwind sailing would be very difficult without a daggerboard, the jib also makes upwind sailing more efficient.

Thanks. I thought rope horse would be the way but I think the rope is missing when I bought it, easy enough to make up though. Its nice to talk to a fellow Bobbin person ! Its a nice light boat. Could you send me a photo of your mainsheet connections so I can check what I need ? Yes I did use a daggerboard and jib, more practice and more wind required !IMG_5508.jpgIMG_5508.jpg

Haven't got a photo that shows our mainsheet reeving. In your case, what I would do is, install a rope hosrse, get a single swivel block with becket (something like this...). Attach the swivel block to the horse with its shackle, tie the end of the mainsheet to the becket, run up over your existing boom end block, down round the swivel block and thence to the hand. The simpler and least friction the better.
Good luck...
