hi all,

started the winter list of jobs and found a leak in the for cabin at the cabin sides (sadler 25) looked everywhere but can i find the leak. I've looked at the mast, the toe rail ok, stantions refurbished last year and no leaks there, jack stays, rigging bases no leaks. Looded at the houdini hatch and seems ok at a loss completely. any ideas?? Any one have a sadler with the same problem and cured it??

Get afriend to go round any potential leak points with a water hose while you crawl around inside looking for it. Better still a pressure washer - must be somewhere on deck if it happened over winter. Don't forget the leak inside may not be where it is entering.

Hi Rob

I had a similar problem with my Sadler 25 a few years ago.
I discovered water was leaking through the anchor locker bulkhead. It took ages to discover. I would arrive at the boat and find a puddle under a frwd cushion not knowing where it came from. The bulkhead which was lined on the inside felt dry, but was sometimes sodden inside.
I solved the problem by drying out the bulkhead and epoxing from the anchor locker.

Hopefully may be of some help, Have since sold Sadler and now own an Albin Vega, "Eager Vega".

Try chalk lines on the cabin sides etc. ( black board chalk) The leak should wash the chalk away, therefore you should be able the trace the source.

It is most likely in the anchor locker, you'll need to check (if you haven't already done so):-

1. All the thro' fixing for hinges etc.
2. the cable for the forward navigation light
3. The O-rings on the hatch handles

All these have been places where I've had untraceable leaks in the past.

Hi,
I used to have a Sadler 25, I think it may be due to condensation between the hull and the internal moulding. This is a possibility.
They are an awesome boat, and even though I now have a 60 footer, I still think she was the best boat I ever owned or sailed.
good luck, happy sailin'...
