Leading lines back to cockpit on a Rival 32

Not sure that you need information specific to the boat. The principles are well established. You need blocks at the base of the mast, organisers on the deck and clutches at the aft end of the coachroof. Just look at a few boats that have them fitted and adapt to your situation. I expect the biggest issue will be arranginging mountings for the blocks and deciding how to attach the organisers and clutches through the deck head. The hardware manufacturers such as Barton and Spinlock will provide you with information on this.

The main consideration is whether you have a deck stepped or keel stepped mast. The risk with a keel stepped is that you end up placing a large vertical load on the deck, if the turning blocks are attached to the deck and not the mast. The deck in older vessels may not be up to it. With a deck stepped mast the problem does not arise.

Should perhaps have been a bit more specific. The Rival has a raised combing (of about 3 inches) between the companionway and the main coachroof, the width of the sprayhood. So, a straight run from the mast back to cockpit is not an immediate option. I wondered what other Rival owners did to overcome this.

Mine are led back on a Rival 32 and a previous owner clearly drilled straight through the coaming to allow a straight run via clutches to small winches on coach roof. I'll look tonight but if I recall, some tubing was glassed into the drilled hole to neaten it. Problem with Rival website is that it's often a bit quiet on the technical response front. Sometimes cos they're off on cruises, esp. this time of year.
