I am trying very hard to buy a boat (Fairline Corniche) and having identified all of the work that needs doing, with the help of the trusty surveyor.

I am now waiting for new props but the broker is saying there is no chance until the 16 April. As they were ordered over a week ago is this a fair time to wait?
Do they really have to be made to order?

You have to take into account how the excitement might grow exponentially if you thought you might have had it in time for Easter.

By the way, sorry for the bad news for you all but it looks as if Easter will be put back two weeks this year........

I wouldn't complain, if I were you, three weeks lead time for almost anything in the marine industry is doing well! /forums/images/icons/smile.gif

If it a Volvo penta prop there are lots on back order until mid April.

I have been waiting for over a month now for one.

Why not sail it over easter with the old props? Even if they are a bit knackered you could get by with them surely?

Steel Developments in London is the answer. I think the URL is http://www.steeldevelopments.co.uk

They usually do better props at better prices - faster delivered. And their advice is A1.

Likewise, Ive been waiting for over a month for some 14mm/10mm fuel filter compression fittings. They only cost a couple of quid each in the real world, but if it's marine, add two noughts and two months.

Peter

What size and pitch are your props as I would appreciate a comparison?

Thanks

Nick

Good idea but the broker is paying all the expense of having it out of the water etc etc so guess that would not be in order.

He did say that it was a pity that he cold not get it up and running for Easter and then do any other work after but as most of it is underneath there is no hope.

Nick,

I looked at yours on Sunday (no pun intended) and they looked the same. I will get some measurements or numbers when I inspect the boat after repair.

Where will it give that sort of info?

I did tell the broker to keep one prop for comparison I don't want to have them fit a different size to the old ones.

I could always ask the broker what he has ordered though the last time I saw it I noted one prop missing, perhaps it has been sent away for size comparison.
