I have been offered a mooring in the Villaine. Is it open to go in and out yet? Do the moorings allow overwintering?

Yes on all counts. I locked out at Arzal 2 weeks ago. No rafting in the lock and you're supposed to wear a mask though nobody did, including the lock keeper. If you're on a buoy at LRB the biggest hazard is being struck by flotsam during floods.
There has also been a lot of lock closures over winter due to the absurd rule that navigation cannot take place if river flux is greater than 250m^3/second, equating to a mean current of 1 knt. This is now under review after a lot of complaints.
