Lazy lines and bag

Are we doing some thing wrong .

No matter what we try we unable to stop our laze lines rubbing on our main sail , we have to keep putting tape strip to protect our sail batten pocket , laze bag makers tell us that we should totally release the laze lines once the sail up but that mean the bag would flop every where , that rise another question and there reply is you tie the bag up , so what the point of a laze bag and lines if you still have to get on deck to do all of this , once you rise the sail and again when you drop it . Or our we missing some thing here .

hehe, I've been wondering the same over here... well - you've given the answer yourself; get up there and tie up easypack/lazyjack lines (only if sailing for long distances/time)...

Hey but the problem is they really having a go at the sails that if we didn't have tape on the pocket it would wear hole in the sails . I can't believe that there not a way to just drop the sail without all the messing ar Lund , else what the point in having them on yacht ?

I did not understand all that you wrote - but a good idea is to remove the Jacks for a week or so and see what happens. My boat has no Lazy Jacks and every time it's a nightmare to drop the mainsail, so I guess this is the trade-off. Alternatively, get a mast-roller main (hmmm), ditch the jacks for good!

What line are you using for the lazyjacks?.. Some ropes are a lot more abrasive than others.. Try a good braided rope and see what the difference is..

Imagine the difference on your hands between a cheap rope that has been out in the sun for a few years and a new braided line

The rope are what came with the bag from new , being a full batten sail doesn't help .

....or, if one prefers a more modern style....

And don't mock too much. I've seen this on a trimaran with FB laminate sails.

+1 - our stackpack came with some very slippery single-braid lines. Not sure what they're made of, but not like normal halyards or warps at all.

We have the lazy jack tensioner led back to the stoppers, and release the tension as soon as the sail is hoisted - hopefully remembering to retension before dropping the sail (but easily fixed if not).
Doesn't entirely eliminate chafe but certainly reduces the impact on sail shape
