Lazy Jacks problem

I have a lazyjack/bag with fully battened main. Even head to
wind, when I raise the main, the batten fitting on the leech
snags the lazy jacks. It is starting to get irritating. Any one
else had this problem and foud a way to stop it?

Yup.

I take the lazy jacks back to the mast after I've got the sail down. They run through a sheave on the mast, and I just hook them round the reefing hook on the boom

G'day Southchinasea,

If you have the type that has 3 leads to a ring, try shifting the ring closer to the mast by shortening the lead nearest the mast, or put a strop through the ring and pull it closer to the mast.

Same solution except I take mine to the mast just before I hoist. Alternatively I get SWMBO to hoist as I am better at steering into the wind
