Hi
I wonder if anybody has up to date information on leaving a boat in the Canaries? I need to find somewhere, preferably out of the water to leave a 10m boat for the summer, April to October.
Any experience or ideas would be welcome!
Jim

Do you know which island?

Lanzarote has a choice of 3 suitable at Rubicon, Calero and the new one in Arrecife.

I dont mind which island really, Lanzarote may be ok, do you have any experience of any of these? Was hoping to find an island with an airport offering low Ryanair style fares.. Ive been into Rubicon and Calero which seem to be the epitome of expensive marinas (!) The Arrecife one is run by the same company isnt it? I will research them and check prices!

I would look at Tazacorte on La Palma or maybe San Miguel on Tenerife. The latter is very close to Tenerife South airport, a low cost airline favourite. I have heard good things about the former.

We laid up in this yard in Tenerife last winter. Very friendly, not expensive with good facilities. A useful chandlery near by and an excellent bus service into Santa Cruz.
There is a small marina in Darsena Pesquera, which caters mainly for small power boats, but has some berths for a boat your size.

Have a look at Gran Tarajal or Morro Jable both in Fuerteventura, Ryanair fly to the UK, Gran Tarajal is best bet good bus service to airport and capital and cheap. I live on the island most of the time.

If you want more details PM me

Gran Tarajal is fine in the water, but they are short of good cradles/props for out of the water storage.

I recently stayed in Las Palmas Marina. Close to a busy town, lots of facilities. I think rates are obtainable on line. But I do know that the no.80 from the airport is a mere 2.60 euros to a nearby location if that helps.

Thanks for all the help.. it seems the Canaries are not a good place to lay up a boat if youre a penniless sailor like me, so I will go to Bruces yard in Faro where its possible to relate to the prices and sail to the Canaries later in the year! :)
