I'm looking for a pair of Laurent Giles design runner levers. I've contacted Classic Marine, but they can't justify the tooling cost due to insufficient demand. These were bronze, about 18" long with a slotted lever and wood on either side of the handle. They were commonly used on the Vertues class boat.

If you can get a photo of one. it would not be a big problem to make a set of patterns and get them cast in gunmetal. That's what I would be doing, if I needed any. I have cast up quite a lot of fittings for my old ketch "Swallow".
Peter.

The other possible place is Boat Jumbles. Often you'll find this sort of thing languishing among the 'junk'.

Davey & Co list similar runners. Highfield, not Laurent Giles, but the same thing (not sliding bar). I know, as my Vertue has identical set.

ref no 1655/GM00 (5mm wire)
GM/01 (6mm)
GM/02 (8mm)
GM/03 (10mm)
The prices (wait for it) £73.71; £92.74; £178.42 and £538.56. It doesn't say if that's a pair. I doubt it. Unfortunately, Davey don't deal direct. Only through people like, er Classic Marine. Ring them anyway. 01206 500945.

If not, make me an offer on mine. GM/01.

Re: Deben Entrance - Laurent giles Runner Levers

John, totally changed - a new entrance has opened up much closer to the yacht club - it looks a lot easier now.
The Woodbridge Haven buoy has been moved to 51º 58.545'N 001º 24.25'E.
The Green bar buoy is moved to 51º 58.87'N 001º 23.5'E
The Red bar buoy is moved to 51º 58.70'N 001º 23.725'E
The new bearing from the Woodbridge Haven Buoy is 300ºT

I recenlty saw a pair of levers in the Chandlery Barge at Bursledon (on the Hamble), might be worth calling them: 02380 406349.
