Launching Sites

Can anyone recommend a decent guide to launching sites and sailing areas for trailer sailors, I’ve got a couple but they are really aimed at day/dinghy sailing, I’m looking for sheltered coastal/estuary and inland areas for weekend sailing.

PBO normally does a 1/4 page each month on trailer/sailer launching places, with a description of the sailing around there. Pick up a couple of back issues, and see what you think. Even the South Coast still has decent places. Chichester harbour has plenty to entertain for a weekend.

Try the web site www.boatlaunch.co.uk. It gives some good descriptions, as does the book "Where to launch around the coast" by Diana van der Klugt (ISBN 1 898574 02 2).

Be careful with the info provided, I went to one site near me onthe thames, it said and I quote "suitable for all craft". get to the "suitable" site, and from the end of the road that is suposed to lead onto the hard shingle foreshore is a drop of 2 feet.

Now i dont know about you but I am not going to drop 1.5 tons of boat 2 feet onto a suitable slip. It is best to pick out the sites that have a photo so you can see what its actually like. Good hunting
