Hoorah! Going back in Friday, all the serious work done. Just got to finish polishing the topsides but can do that afloat. Hopefully will be doing a sea trial on Saturday and then away for easter weekend.

Main thought for this season - avoid fishing lines. Last one I went over has turned out to be expensive.

Excellent stuff, my finishing off was cut fine too, had to leave last sunday at 2:30 to catch a plane, finished refitting & antifouling leg at 2:10. Phew.

good Luck

Good Luck with the launching and have a good season.

Fishing pot lines are a menace ,luckilly not many in the top end of the channel but west of the Nash and Watchet they get more and more common .I succesfully sailed through a minefield of them off St Govans a few years ago on ly to tangle up in some discarded net off the entrance to Milford :-(

Fortunately I was outside the shipping channel and managed to free it after a worrying hour or so it filled the cockpit of the boat but no way would I put it back in the water, be my luck to meet it again on the way home.

Thanks Graham

Seems this end of the channel its logs and dead bodies to watch out for (many threads on this I have seen)

Incidentally the fishing line I went over was from shore fisherman fishing off the pier as we came out of the lock at Swansea. We were going slow on one engine and didn't see it untill too late. We knew we had broken his line but didn't know it had would round the shaft on the leg and then subsequently under the seals, which let the water in.

Blimey! As I recall it was all quite civilised so I was lucky. Or maybe fishing weights are now too expensive in these troubled economic times.

My Dad was shot at whilst rowing on lake Majore in Italy. He still has a pellet in his chin

Slightly off the subject but swmbo was doing a medical tutorial yesterday, two of her students made it but more amazing was one was kidnapped , shot with ak47,escaped and managed to fly to Cardiff for his tutorial.........the British students couldn't be bothered! Can't remember which country he was from but it was somewhere middle east.
