Launching \'flaty w/out trailer

I've recently acquired for a v. modest outlay a v.large heavy old inflatable (15ft, 4.5m 8-10 man) & 25hp o/board. Over the months I've reconditioned the Avon and checked the o/b works. So, over the next couple of weeks I intend testing it on a slip up the road at Shoreham but as I'm getting it there in the back of the estate I've been pondering the best way of launching a heavyish boat & o/b. The 3 options seem to be (once inflated!); 1) get it half in the water and put the o/b on the transom still resting on the slipway then push the lot in, 2) point it the other way round and walk in the water/along inside and hope I don't drop the o/b, or 3) somehow get the lot on the roof of the car fully set up, take the handbrake off and the boat will float as the car submerges!

Anyone got any better solutions (not 'buy a trailer' just yet- this is a budget exercise at the moment, which doesn't mean I don't have 'jackets & oars etc).

Re: Launching \'flaty w/out trailer

To start I'd get minimum a couple of people to help and get it half in the water then attach engine, assuming conditions flat and that there is room on the slip for 2 people to carry the engine and underfoot is sound
there is going to be no ideal way without a trailer.
there is potential problems in either method. manhandling the engine if it is slippy is the biggest potential problem in my experience of boats and slips.

It was like that when i found it

How about a launching trolley, much cheaper than a trailer, must be loads going cheap at dinghy sailing clubs, if in need of refurbishment.

If you go to a slipway near a sailing club, you might be lucky enough to find a friendly person who will lend you a launching trolley or even give you a hand, especially if you explain it's a first-time experiment!

Thanks all for the advice. If it's dry next weekend I'll find out one way or the other (I'd forgotten about trolleys aswell).

Cheers!
