thanks for your excellent help

I had a great sail on Monday

for tommorrows entertainment I was going to see if I could launch at Kelmscott and then sail towards lechlade

any advice on launching the duck punt at Kelmscott gratfully recieved

I can carry it - but 50 yards is a tough lug

I can cope with almost any bank

Dylan

Hi Dylan

I have only been to Kelmscott with my boat but do remember there was a bit walk from the river to the pub! There was a gravel track almost to the river but I'm not sure if you could park there. I recall seeing anglers cars there and do not remember any gates... I reckon your car could at least linger there while you got the boat off. Others may well be better informed.

Stephen.

Another thing, the Roundhouse upstream of Lechalde is usually noted as the limit of navigation but smaller boats ( like yours and mine :-) ) can go some distance up there. It's one of the best bits...

So can some larger boats!
I took Parglena (50x11'6) to within 500yards of Hannington Bridge
Did need a chainsaw to clear the way mind.

As did the TNC with their chainsaw, but as the sites down at the moment can't provide a link. The punt could easily do the trip down from Cricklade - and I can't post those photo's either.

Really beautiful small Cotswold village with a very decent pub last time I was there (it was seven years ago). Served a very nice lamb curry with spinach.

There have nice rooms too. To be very candid I think they charge a bit too much - but it was ideal as the first 'overnight' trip for my wife and son on the boat. 'Overnight' in so far as we boated to the pub and then slept upstairs in the pub :)
