There is going to be a major event taking place at a venue in the North Kent area on the 5th Nov 2005. Refreshments will be laid on (Champagne, beer, soft drinks, toast, sandwiches, peanuts, crisps).

This event will be unique in that it will demonstrate the skills of launching a boat /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif , including vehicle handling and boat handling skills and following on with a safety equipment demonstration /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif No photogaraphy will be permitted /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif But all who attend will be given a go in a superb 24ft cruiser, and those that have the necessary qualifications will be allowed a 'little' drive of it /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

So who is up for this 'interesting' event then /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Oh! anyone know a good insurance company for cars and boats /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Only for safety mind you, but is anyone a qualified search and rescue diver? /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Yes, a great warm up for the bonfire evening /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif I will PM those interested in coming with the venue, it is a genuine thankyou to those that have supported me in my boating hobby.

I am sure we will have a great laugh and a bit of fun on the water, trim tab specialists especially welcome /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

The event will be in two parts, the launch fiasco followed by the mooring fiasco, then onto the jolly trips.

I will require an experienced skipper to be 'launched' cos I ain't going off the back of a trailer in a boat I don't know /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

NOTE
Vehicle recovery experts also very, very welcome /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

If you won't allow pictures, I suggest that some entreprenurial soul sets up a live radio broadcast like the film "Battle of the River Plate" recreating the part of Mike Fowler the American Radio Commentator, when the Graf Spee was blockaded in Montevideo harbour during WWII.

The line, "She moving, yes folks she's definately moving" will come alive again.

Yes Pete, I think that would lend some dignity to the procedings, as you are right that a video would only be of any worth if accompanied by Benny Hill music soundtrack and the film was overcranked.

I look forward to my invitation.

Your welcome, just let me know if you want to come, and I will PM the details, just to let you know there will be quite a few from the forum so a bit of a laugh and team building excercise /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

MV Happy 1 ready for launching.

Re: I knew I should have upgradded those brakes!!

/forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif Is that on the way from Littlehampton to Chatham? /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

Re: I knew I should have upgradded those brakes!!

Junction 6 (A229) off the M20. But don't worry you'll be going up it not down. Hopefully!! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Re: I knew I should have upgradded those brakes!!

Anyone got any details of good boat transportation companies?

Oh! where do I advertise a nearly new, well just delivered trailer? /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

Re: I knew I should have upgradded those brakes!!

best option will be to half the weight and make two trips. One for the boat and the other for all your safety equipment. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Presumaby this will capture the moment when Captain 'Happy' Langsdorff decides that the only honourable way out of his boat launching fiasco is to scupper the the good ship GC1 by blowing up his epersbacher?

No, I am up for it, even if it means a long drive down from the Cheshire Plains. Well, I would actually fly in from foreign countries to watch this.

I can bring generator, bread, butter and toaster to keep restless crowds at bay.

But, will it happen? Because you have already abandoned this weekend's launch.

If I can get the skip moved from in front of my garage, I'll bring a jetski along so we can christan the boat properly /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Hope your not planning on launching boat down the Strand slipway..............
