Plenty fast now using opencpn with openplottter.

To get the latest hardware driver open a terminal and type..

sudo BRANCH=next rpi-update

Then in the preferences menu turn in on in "old raspi config" - advanced video driver

Then in opencpn turn on opengl in display|advanced

enjoy

Think I did something wrong. Seemed to be going well. Then a lot of failed messages. Then couldn't get it to turn on and display kept flashing. Reloaded open plotter from sd card and ok now

I still can't get anywhere with Open plotter - just can't install it, either via NOOBS, or native, on any memory card. I've re-downloaded the file, asked for support from the Sailoog chaps, and generally tried everything I can think of, to no avail.

Gutted - really wanted to get it working :-(

works here ok, maybe worth trying update/upgrade first if you fancy another bash at it..

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get upgrade -y
sudo apt-get dist-upgrade -y

I'm in the same position. Google doesn't help that much:ambivalence:

I had a real game too. I could not get it to work using the NOOBS download. I used the older image download. I installed windisk manager and write the image to a formatted disk and then worked fine. I'm very new to this and it all seems a black art to me

Which openplotter download are you using?
Opencpn and I did find the instructions from Agurney from this Parish. I have done an update, but have a few other bits and bobs I didn't want to lose being new to this but I'll get a USB card reader. Good idea, thanks.

Openplotter really is worth a look, v0.9 is still early days but v0.8 has been rock solid for me on both a Pi2 & Pi3.

On mine the sd copier is in the accessories menu or type "piclone" in a terminal.
