Well, had a look at wind and tide for this weekend.

Looks like 10-15 knots from the south again.
No rain
Early afternoon tide.

Yee haw!!!:D

Think we will go screaming across the Ray to Tollesbury.

Give us a wave, or meet us in the Club bar on Saturday.....

I will be at the TSL yard just up from the marina, doing a spot of scraping, painting, varnishing. :( Probably up to about 16:00.

Pop round if you want, I could probably do with a break.

There are a few beers left aboard....:D

Regards

Weekend plans

Please excuse this intrusion. Jim's passage plan and evocative photos in his other recent post are giving me a bout of nostalgia for the Crouch.

I was planning on some sailing but they let all the water out.....

.

Just in case you are wondering these are not pictures of drought in central France. What has happened is that the local fishermen decided it was time to harvest the fish in the lake. So they let all the water out and then picked up the fish. Simples.

I think we have made a good choice. Our neighbours are making us very welcome and our new home is proving very comfortable and welcoming. We have not abandoned the water entirely. In our dinghy we can navigate about a mile upstream on the river which runs along the bottom of our garden. There are kingfishers and dragonflies, shady pools and overhanging willows. Very Ratty and Mole!

Apologies for thread drift not to mention geographical drift.

Fixed up for a jaunt down the Medway on a birdspotting trip this Sunday. I supply the boat and my friend Ken brings his expertise - it's not just the identification but his knowledge of bird behaviour that makes such a difference. We'll try for a rummage around the back of the forts and maybe down Stangate Creek.

We had a great blast out on Sunday afternoon. 7 knots sog up the river to Brandy Hole - turned around just before LW and once the tide turned we had 6 knots on the way back - that's well good for us! I love autumn sailing - it's so good to get out of the stuffy house/office.

Saw several forumites out on the river too.

I have forgiven Mr AliM for his joke about me not having changed out of my halloween fancy dress costume!

Drifted up to Fambridge, alongside came Brigantia, and thats where they stayed until Sunday.
Nice couple of beers, a chicken curry, then up the pub. Top evening with Bruce and Jane.

Lazy morning, stayed in bed until 10, then ambled back upriver to Bridgemarsh. Ho Hum.

Personally, I'd have gone downriver from Fambridge to Bridgemarsh.
Do you know a shortcut?:D

It was indeed a top evening and Jane and I enjoyed it very much thanks

We drove down to Levington earlier in the day and spent several hours looking over boats for sale at the Clarke and Carter boat fair. Not that we're seriously thinking about moving on from Brigantia already but some debate has been going on about whether to spend the money we'd like to spend on bringing Brigantia up to scratch or whether we'd be better off changing boats

Didn't find anything that came close to ticking all the boxes and it's becoming increasingly clear that we've got rather different boxes to tick! (Jane wants something BIG and very comfy, I want something traditional and easily handled. Ho hum!)

Arriving at Fambridge late afternoon, we discovered the pontoon was as full as we've seen it all season. One remaining spot on the inside (which we greatly prefer as it tends to be calmer) was snaffled by a boat coming upriver just as I cast off from the mooring. Sidling up the outside to find a spot, we were hailed by none other than Jim on Full Circle and after making a bit of a hash of sorting our lines out (much to Jims' amusement ) we tied up outside leaving the last remaining spot on the pontoon for the boat coming up behind us

Curry and beers on board Full Circle followed by more beers up the pub and most excellent company more than made up for the somewhat disturbed and uncomfortable night on board due to the wind and waves! Normally, Jane and I both sleep like logs on the boat but we both woke up several times on Saturday night especially around high water.

Breakfast from a tin was followed by offloading our moderate amount of kit, we'd managed to travel fairly light for once, before putting Brigantia back on her mooring and heading down to Burnham Yacht Harbour to meet up with Karen, Ian and the kids on Laurin

A preliminary survey of the electrics on Laurin, the purpose of the visit, was followed by lunch in the Swallowtail which was again most enjoyable. Esme seemed particularly fascinated by my beard which she, as babies always seem to do, had a good tug at :)

Not really a boating weekend at all but a weekend of good food, good beer and especially good company which Jane greatly appreciated - it cheered her up no end as she's been going stir crazy stuck at home on the sick and not really knowing what, or how serious, the problem is
