Greetings all. Anyone with an interest in this yard, now long gone, may be interested in a book written by Alan Staley, a fine boat builder from Faversham, who served his apprenticeship at the yard from 1961 onwards. The book charts the entire history of the yard and is a fascantating insight.
The book is called Last One Down the Slip and can be obtained from The friends of Whitstable Museum and Gallery of from Alan himself at Chambers Wharf Faversham.

Greetings Clive,

are you any relation to Roy (God rest his soul) I have fond memories of him as a lad when we used to visit Whitstable a yacht club with my late father and his Flying Dutchman, great rivalry in those days between Essex and Kent.
Then in later life I surveyed acouple of boats for him.

cheers Paul
