Our boys were out for weekends and holidays from the age of about 3 months each. They continued with us for the next 16 - 17 years. They both loved it. They both gained an awful lot of self reliance. You really should try and keep it even if you can't keep it up to previous standards. The time will come when the kids can help with the scrubbing off, polishing, antifouling etc. We probably spent less on the boat than we would have had to pay for a summer holiday every year.

Ive just Bought a boat three weeks after our son was born with the whole intention of going sailing with him and SWMBO ! Fair enough we have proper really hot summers that last for 8 months rather than an attempt at a summer in Blighty. Ever thought of relocating it, what with the prices of cheap airlines now you can fly a family to an frow for a couple hundred quid.
