Larger ship lifts/slipways - 100+ton, NW.

Hi guys,

Looking at getting my boat slipped, she's a fair size 63' ex mfv. Probably 100-120 ton displacement. (going to be laser scanned to find out for sure)

I know of a few places where they could get her out of the water

Carmet Marine (Merseyside)
MPM Northwest (Maryport) - spring tides only, 48 hour window
Holyhead Marine - 100t lift, not sure if she'll be too heavy

Fraserburgh, Macduff shipyards, Eyemouth .... all on wrong side of country


Anyone know of any other options I should look into?

Should be plenty on West coast ...

Most West-coast shipyard should in principle be capable of handling that, and if not, a harbor board with a good quayside and access should relatively easily manage to support a 200T mobile crane...

That Mallaig slip is a good one to know about, cheers.

Portable crane has been considered but was led to believe it would need to be bigger than 200t due to the required reach?

Brilliant cheers, looks like Bute and Donny Bruce are options. Fairlie only looks to have a yacht lift type thing 80 ton.

Edit Donny Bruce not an option they can only do 75 ton

Interesting photos on the Mallaig Shipyard website a bit more involved than the GRP reairs and polishing on this forum!
I visit Mallaig annually and always fascinated by what they have on the slipway also interesting boats dotted around the industrial est. As you say they could slip OP boat. Going up there next week.
