I bought one last week - it comes with all the different plugs and voltages from 14 to 20 plus a polarity choice..

Works a treat

Be careful with Dell's. They are not consistent on what plugs they need.

What Model Dell have u got?

I am sure that the CPT has a 3pin feed with the end profile looking like a dome. Am I correct.

If so, the multi chargers that you get for arounf £30 will not work (They come with the conventional round connectors.

I got one for my Inspiron from a specialist supplier. I think that it is the same one that you need. As my Inspiron is now dead, I may just have the DC supply lying around somewhere.....

Cheers

Wayne

Maplins unit ...

Left plugged in when starting engine - absolutely no problem.

OK -that is no guarantee - but I did it by accident, as I normally disconnect power supply and revert to Notebook batterty for the few minutes to start engine and then plug back in again after starting.

If I remember rightly - the Maplins unit is 70W cont ...... and even though this seems a little on the low side - charges my 16V notebook just as well as if it were on mains 240V
