A friend said that one of THEIR friends flew UK to Lanzarote to join a boat today 3rd May 2020. That sounds quite good news eh? I do hope the sensible captain will be along to pour slightly less cold water than last time over the idea of me sailing Carib to Canaries instead of UK in the next month or so, and flying back to uk ... Jet2 is flying there it seems from Skyscanner ... No quarantine as far as I know for EU people now (or very soon)? So I am very keen on going to Canaries not UK, then carib return jaunt in Novemberish

The last stage – referred to by the government as “the new normality” – should arrive at the end of June provided there is no upsurge of the virus. “Mobility between provinces will arrive when we get to the new normality,” said Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez at a press conference on Tuesday evening.
But some provinces could get to this stage before others, meaning that travel between them will only be possible if they are both in the same situation.
There has, as yet, been no confirmation of when national flights and non-essential train journeys will be possible once more.

I have had several flights cancelled from France , and Barcelona to Lanzarote.( and no refund:mad:)
The only way to land is by Las Palmas and further with Binter to Arrecife ( ACE) airport in Lanzarote.
But as explained by Capt Sensible, non residents are not allowed and if not resident, need evidence of real problems on the boat if you plan to be back.
From what I know, Marina Lanzarote ( in Arrecife)has let foreign yachts coming in.
As well, a swedish couple on their Halberg Rassy on the way back from Canary has been allowed to enter in Brest marina and in Le Havre in france where they were allowed to do some shopping etc before heading north. That means some customs or police authorities and /or marina managers can be more "friendly" than others...
( declaracion responsable de motivo de viaje en el ambito de canarias a effectos de las restricciones a la movilidad de personas para el control del covid-19) found and downloaded from the Trasmediterranea web site ( ferries from mainland spain to canary islands)

There are no flights from UK to Lanza. Your friends friend is avvinalarf. Try flightradar24 for whats really happening.
A bit of an update, Wizzair are flying from Luton to Tenerife, they flew on Saturday, don't know if any more flights are planned, the flight was classed as a rescue flight, it got Brits off the island, the passengers flying into Tenerife had to have proof of residency.

hum i am hoping for better news and less cold water from CS next week. Jet2 is planning/selling lanza flights from June 18. Still in lagoon in st martin. Checked in in fr side but fr bridge is non-functioning. So Dutch need to see exit papers then bridge fees, then coastguard okay, then open bridge. Dont come back or 14 days qtine either side. Officials all say there should be "no problem" possibly cos they have no boat and their bot of admin works all lovely due to zero to one boats per day and most sitting home with tv....

Flip the coin, dude. Not even Senor Sanchez knows yet.

When will I be able to visit Lanzarote for a holiday?
Currently, it’s impossible to answer the question. There’s no confirmed information available on when the islands will open to international traffic, or to which countries.
This section will be updated the moment we have dates for international tourism.

Much more positive, thanks! I won't be setting off for a week or so yet, partly due to being stuck in the French side lagoon with no french Bridge, and when you exit the Dutch Bridge you get escorted offshore. I emailed the person responsible for the broken French Bridge, and his email doesn't work either. Hurrah! On arrival Horta I will try check whether to head to UK, or Canaries. Can I say Uffa Fox sake, yet?

To increase the chances of your destination being open on your arrival, you could sacrifice a small furry creature in honour of your favourite God.

If you do this inside the boat using the formal ceremonial words in a loud, stern voice, your God will be tricked into believing you so Harry the Hamster can actually continue providing small ammounts of electricity from his wheel.

If hamsters are difficult to procure in St. Maarten, Pm your contact and I will let you know when Lanza opens!

Gottit. I have several hamsters on board all dedicated to providing electricty via their wheels, with their cages wired together to produce 24V+ battery charging, so I will get this sorted if any falter over the next few weeks. I will PM satphone info, testing due this Sunday. Thank you again for your valuable transat expertise. This one will be my 13th so I may set off on a Friday to mess with Fate kinda thing?

Up to date statement from Snr. Angel Victor Torres, President of the Canary Islands. Translated from original Spanish.

International connectivity
Regarding international connectivity and the possibility of it being operational in the month of August, Torres stated that they "would like it to be as soon as possible", but stressed that "it has to be done with security for those who come and those who are here "because" nothing "would have been gained if international flights were opened and" there is no control "regarding the fact that people who get on a plane and then get off in the Canary Islands come free of viruses.
For this reason, he underlined the need to arbitrate mechanisms so that "a certain number of passengers can move in an airplane" and that it is "essential that those who board that airplane do so calmly and confident that they will enjoy a few days on vacation and that wherever they go there is a virus-free territory, as we currently have in the Canary Islands, and that those of us who are here know that this tourism is going to be safely recovered. "

So maybe, just maybe, August.

If one bridge will only open to escort you off shore and the other is blocking your email, what have you done to upset these people so much?
