I've had a small pot of lanolin that i bought from the chandley yonk's ago. It did the job but has run out... not been able to find it since.

where to people buy there lanolin from nowadays any special type i should look for

TIA

Think the word is 'anhydrous'. Very sticky and kind to the hands.

Impossible to get from chemists - certainly in my area; got it eventually from an online health shop - sorry can;t remember the name google 'anhydrous lanolin'

Wot for?
Is that what is needed around battery terminals which corrode quickly despite covering with grease?
Is Vaseline better?
Or some spray-on?
Advice welcome.

I use it for putting over the prop and stern gear to prevent fouling. I also like to use it just before launch on the folding prop. it makes the prop all yukky and greasy so hopefully will stop it going walkies prior to launch.

Some use lanolin on props to reduce fouling; I have not found that to work consistently.

Another use is to keep a screw on the end of a screwdriver, or picking up dropped items in the bilge.

Useful stuff!

I use a grease on my prop, called Orca, which turns out to be just lanolin as far as I can see. I bought it at a chandlers' years ago but it seems to be still around as Henleys Orca Grease.

I may be 50% Welsh, but there are limits /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

Yes, anhydrous lanolin. Useful stuff, especially for putting on nut/bolt/shackle threads which are exposed to salt water and which you might subsequently wish to undo. Also kind to most peoples' hands (but some are allergic). Boots used to stock but (as others have discovered) don't seem to now, no idea why not.

Dont be put off by BOOTS they may not stock it but they can and will get it in for you. The branch in Dover do a good trade supplying the cross channel swimmers.
