Just catching up on the postings and read the Starcross landing question.

I am a member of the SFCC which is based at the Brunel tower which is very conspicuous. I think the originators question when he referred to the sailing club further north of the village was mistaking the club at Powderham further noth of Starcross.
The SFCC is in the village itself. To land you need high tide for ease but at low tide you can approach the club from the south side if the pier and look out for the hard core path that is laid to the waters edge.

If you approach as you can easily walk up to the railway arch, go under and you enter the SFCC car park. (obviously you can motor your dinghy in at high tide)

The slipway is a public right of way.

The club is very welcoming and the building is interesting in it's own right. The views from the club are fantastic.
All boasting visitors are welcome as the signs on the riverside indicate. There is a club visitors mooring in deep water a few hundreds yards from the clubhouse, which you could book by contacting the club on a Tues/Wed/Fr night. 01626890470
I hope this has been some help?

Regards.

Peter.

Many thanks - that's exactly the information I was looking for. Yes, I was aware that there is another club further north but it is the landing near the village that interests me. I look forward to visiting the SFCC but, unfortubately, it will probably be next season before we get the next chance.

Did I meet you in Guernsey about 5 years ago? I live in Chesterfield and we discussed the pro's and con's of getting to the dart and Exe via the M5?
I had a Hunter 26 at the time and I believe your boat was a blue hulled Hunter?
I could have completely the wrong person?

glad the info was what you wanted.

Regards.

Peter

As you are so proud

of your club - do you qualify as a "boasting visitor"?

Talking of "Landing at Starcross".

Did you hear about the star crossed lovers at the weekend. A performance of Romeo and Juliet had to be abandoned because as J says "Romeo, Romeo wherefore art thou" she fell off the balcony and broke her wrist.

More a starcrossed landing I'd have thought.

Yes, we do indeed have a blue hulled Hunter Delta and I seem to remember such a conversation because I had been offered an Exe mooring around that time. I recall drying out on the beach at Herm alongside a Hunter 26 on that trip - was that you - or did we meet in StPP?

Regards

Yes, hoping to visit SFCC now that I know the best way to get ashore. Unfortunately it will probably be next season as we will likely lift out soon.
Hope to meet up then.

Regards
Rex
