Landau 29

Has it got Osmosis or are you thinking about preventative measures? For a preventative treatment I'd just leave her ashore for the winter and apply the gloop in the spring.
Ah, just looked at the words in the ad'. Blisters in such a young vessel don't bode well in my opinion so you might be better off to have the bottom peeled and have the whole lot redone.
Alternatively, just have the blisters that are showing treated and expect more to appear over time. Not a problem until you come to resell, but if you've got a bargain to start with, then that is also swings and roundabouts. Nice looking boat!

Not personally familiar with these boats but do remember MBM doing a feature on them as a secondhand buy which might give you a good insight.

Sorry must read better, the feature was on the Landau 20, not the 29!

Found a report

Now found the MBM report and paid my £7 to get it. Interesting boat - main caveats seem to be a "snug" engine bay, a bit light on noise insulation - how bad is 81db is a saloon anyway? Also uses GRP honeycomb stringers instead of balsa for longitudinal stiffening - sounds very unconventional - any thoughts on that?

Landau is made by hunter yachts ! A small ish brand you may have heard of !!!!!
So that gives you a bit of insight to pedigree if you like.
We have / had a hunter landau 20 as our previous boat which is forsale now.

Gone

Thanks all - I hate threads that just fade away so just to let you know I rang the broker today and she went yesterday! Unless the sale falls through that's the end of that thread

Anyone know anything abou these - looks a nice little boat but never heard of them. http://www.theyachtmarket.com/boats_for_sale/166500/

Also what would it cost to have a boat this size dried out and epoxied to get rid of the dreaded boat pox
My understanding is that while osmosis can be a major problem, commonly major problems are on very old sailing boats with poor layup and poor resins. There are some technical books with chapters I read at some time.
More "modern" osmosis tends to cause immediate panic, though can often be very non structural and perhaps in an isolated area. In other words, surveyors have to note it as it can affect prices, but it neednt be anywhere near as scary as first read.
Obviously, I dont know the report on this boat.
I havent ever been on a Landau, but I recall comments in the past that they had a rather unsual ride. I think I would like to try one in seas from different directions to know what was meant by that.
