Hi

Anyone advise what anchoring is like these days in Lamlash? Last time I was there the bottom was foul with old moorings etc,

Cheers

Terrible place, even in no wind you always get a slight slop coming into the bay, in an eastery dont even think about it!!!! Better option is to anchor behind Holy Isle or my favourite spot of all at Kingscross in the very SW corner behind the fish pens!! If you must go to Lamlash anchor off the church is the best spot but getting very weedy of late. Loads of new mooring buoys for a tenner a night if you that way incline!!!!!!

I anchored there last week. All the big Admiralty buoys seem to have gone. I anchored off Holy Island and had the most sheltered night of an otherwise quite bumpy trip. I thought about moving over to Lamlash itself, but I couldn't identify the VBs (if any) and it looked a bit crowded. The recommended anchorage in the bay on the north side (forgotten it's name) seems to be affected by a new development including a big slipway.

While I was there a boat labelled "Taxi" arrived at the monastery jetty and dropped off / picked up folks before heading back to Lamlash, and while I was up the hill a seaplane landed in the bay then took off a few minutes later.

"Taxi" is the Holy Isle ferry!!! Did you go ashore to Holy Isle, well worth a visit and a nice climb to the top "Mulloch More" gives fantastic views, about 40 mins for an old bugger like me will get you to the top!
