Built under the sign of the devil.
Getting re engined later this year, there is a God.
I think the wheel is from a bumper car.

All duplicated on the flybridge (except hobbs)
Along with about 25 switches further down, and of course the cigarillo lighter.

Hobbs meter is the same as engine hours except starts to record as soon as you turn the engine master switch on.
The only bright red bits on those b'stard engines is my blood. They're a sort of greeny blue colour, sort of mint sunrise, go nicely with Cheryl's new bag from Russell & Bromley.

Not joking, I spend most of the time scanning the bloody things.
Gotta say though when a head gasket went off Sheppy it sounded like we were being machine gunned at very close quarters, even woke Cheryl and Albert the dog up (she slept through a harrier taking off about 20 feet from us).

Yep, the Americans think of everything don't they.
He's there in case of fouled props etc.
Don't get that sort of thing on your fancy european boats.

When I was looking for a Laguna my first question was always, how are the engines? The answer always was "Oh terrific, we've just got this little...." This was about 20 years ago.

Can't remember whether it's the port of starboard engine that's the problem. There's a 10m Laguna with bright red engines recently sold on the Hamble, re-engined with Ivecos, and some I think came from new with Cummins.

What are you planning to install? Is yours 10m or 11.5m?

Sorry for the questions but I really do like them. There's one at Dorset Lake on the hard, looks like the wheelhouse is full of timber, abandoned refit or what I know not.

Its an 11.5 built in 1972.
It was the port engine that gave us all the problems as some clown had fitted badly made head gaskets. The real problem with them I think is that they were never designed to have turbo's and when using boost they overheat. They also contain a surprisingly small quantity of oil.
We are going to have 300hp sabres as these were the only engines we could afford new and are in the right rev range and also the mounts are'nt too far out.
We also have to get new gearboxes as one of the GMC's runs backwards. Looking forward to getting the work done as we can use the boat properly.
