Reading through the rubbish posted on here today I don't know why I bother. Everyone has become overly polite and scratching for something to say. What happened to all the gratuitous insults and overt piss-taking that scuttlebutters are famous for!
If I read another post that has a sub-script that says:
This post is not really my opinion and I am not responsible for the crap written above because I am too friggin humble to stand up and say what I really think.....
I will puke!!

The same had struck me, coming back to Scuttlebutt after a year or two away. It is all very anodyne, just the occasional interesting post. There seem to be lots of subjects which are off-limits according to some regular posters, who act as informal moderators by swamping any discussion before it gets going (OK, I'm a bit bored with ensign posts too).

Partly perhaps because all the really interesting subjects have been argued about before ad nauseam. But I miss all the debates off the past where everyone piled in, gloves off, it seems to me that there was much more exchange of diverse and honest opinions. Now all the 'debates' are very one-sided.

In all seriousness, I think you are correct. Ther's been some brilliant arguments & discussions in the past. Take for example the Ellen posts, there were some very valid and interesting angles which were not allowed to be debated by a handful of aggressive posters piling in and and attacking anyone who dared not to toe the PC line. That is not the purpose of a forum. Long may dissension, anarchy and forthright discussion rule.

It's no good you trying to ingratiate yourself with others by toadying up to Simon just because you see yourself loosing ground you old Queen.
Why dont you just say you capitulate and agree to try and do better in the future like a good little trannie and go away and do something useful for your employers?

Grrrrr, you're not supposed to AGREE with me /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif Come to think of it, I always used to think that Scuttlebutt was far too vitriolic, and if only we could all be nice to one another and have nice civilised discussions etc etc. It happened. But we seem to have thrown out the baby with the bathwater, lost all the debates at the same time (well, not all, I did enjoy arguing about teak decks /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif)

And the ICC debate.

This is becoming a bit like "What did the Romans ever do for us?"

[/ QUOTE ]Listen you, you traiterous wee twerp. you be serious - that will be a first! and as for you actually thinking - don't go straining your last two brain cells - if the good one dies the other is going to be real lonely.

There how's that for insulting and mud slinging - eh wee man! do you think you can come out of your alcoholic stupor long enough to throw some back? or maybe nurse has had to give you another shot?

Remember the road north will always be open for you or is it the road to the east you want to be following?

We still on for a gargle in K/K when you get back this way?
