I have just transferred Butane from a larger 15kl cylinder to a 4.5 kl . It all went very straight forward. I used high pressure armoured rubber hose, with fittings at each end which did not have regulators. I turned the donor cylinder upside down Very easy operation. The only problem I had was I could not get more than 3kls into each 4.5kl bottle. Obviously I had the empty bottles sitting on a set of scales as I was filling them, as I was concerned about over filling but alas 3 kls of gas will have to do. British bottles do not have a vent screw as they do in the good old USA . I believe if you cool the receiving bottle and warm the donor bottle, with a hair dryer you get more in. Comments welcome.

Indeed. Put the receiving bottle in the freezer before filling. Do the whole operation up the garden well away from any source of electricity, including hair dryers! Just to be on the safe side.
