Hi,

I need to service my impeller this winter on my marinised Kubota ZL600 raw water pump.

The impeller is in an incredibly hard to reach part of the engine, facing backwards with only about 2" of clearance from the plate and engine.

I have tried to unscrew the plates with a "s" shaped screwdriver much like you would use to build ikea furniture as that is all that would fit in the small gap.

Only now half of the bolts have sheared off.

I am concerned as I have no way at getting at the remaining bolts.

I will now have to take the whole assembily off the engine to tap out the bolts left in the screw holes or replace the whole pump.

Problem being is that I cannot see how the pump is attached to the engine and I'm not sure how I can get the bl**dy thing off.

Has anyone changed this on their Kubota engine? I believe the lump is the same as used on beta inboards....

The pump is located towards the front of the engine, underneath the fuel pump, facing backwards so unable to get a good view of how it joins on...

Hope someone can help!

Thanks

If it is like a kubota in a generator, and our pump is mounted in a similar way, under the injection pump, it is flange mounted with a bolt and a nut. driven by a slot drive. quite easy to remove.

The one we have is a sherwood pump, which has nuts on the plate , but screws that hold the front plate, the body, extending out to take ythe back plate, which is secured by the nuts.

'Scruff',

Does your lump look like this? It sounds very similar to my setup.

Care to post a pic?

If so, perhaps we could co-operate on issues and solutions. :)

It does indeed look very similar to your engine, only I have no belt, which is presumably driving your water pump, off to the left. I am spending the weekend on-board this weekend, I will try to disassemble and take photo's.

I'm hoping this to be a simple fix as so far this winter she has got a new starter motor, injectors are off being serviced and glow plugs are out for testing.

Will keep you posted, thanks for your help.

Cheers,

Scruff

does your dm 12 have a fresh water circulation pump, and a impellor pump for salt mounted on the cam behind the injection pump?

will post some photos of mine when i find my camera!! damm kids!

currently it is out the boat so it can easily be viewed.

mine was maranised by hydro marine and there is no fresh water pump, just a heat exchanger, that apparently relies on convection for cooling,as do the models used in the b6000 tractor.

dm 12/ kubota zl600 engine.
impellor pump,showing 3x m8 studs and lower threaded hole for a 30mm m8 bolt(fits 13mm spanner)
there is also an adaptor between the cam and the impellor shaft, but not in the photo.
