No need for any pro/con discussions etc., but:
I need to know the diameter of the pin on CHAIN side of Kong 8-12mm connector, please, as I can't find this on any published spec.
Thanks!

I had the same question before I bought one.

That diagram shows every dimension except the diameter of the pin on the chain side.

I seem to think the packaging on the actual product does give the dimension... I can check later, otherwise when the rain stops I can measure the actual size.

Thanks.
I asked the question because my new calibrated 8mm chain from a reputable supplier said to be compatible with my windlass has an internal diameter of only 10mm. (12mm in the "old" chain). I guess I could use the smaller version, but would prefer to go with the larger size, if it will fit.

I had a new one delivered this morning. The packaging shows every dimension, except for the chain pin!

Looks like 9.2mm pin diam., based on eyeballing against a ruler.

I need mine to fit 7mm calibrated chain, as my 25lbs CQR anchor was oversized for the 6-8mm version.

Thanks.

ISO and DIN chain dimensions are shown on my website here http://coxengineering.sharepoint.com/Pages/Chaindefinitions.aspx. 10 mm doesn't sound right. Does it fit your windlass?

Just happened to have one handy! Dunno why the image has inverted? Anyway it measures 9.37 mm on mine that is with little use.

Whoops, sorry, just realised I didn't zero the calliper! More accurate reading is 9.55mm.

Thanks very much guys, and a photo as well! What a brilliant resource this forum is!
Vyv's info suggests that I have been sold some non EU standard chain, after all. I will investigate, check with the vendor and report back.
At the moment the boat (with windlass) and chain are 350miles apart, so I can't easily give it a run to find out.

The chain is G40 DIN 766, origin Italy: dimensions A 8mm B 24mm C 10mm.
The windlass is a Lofrans X1 Project: origin Italy:according to the handbook, the only chain criteria are Iso or Din766, and required dimensions
are: A 8mm, and B 24mm, with no mention of internal diameter.

The original chain, now gone, had a C of 12mm.
