Ok, so in the (uncertain) event of buying a Volvo inboard Rodman that has caught my eye, can anyone recommend any reliable Volvo engineers in the Falmouth area or possibly Plymouth? I'm a bit fearful of main dealer prices! All part of my feasibility research!

Did I say we would be upgrading next year……….DOH!

Yup

I use Adrian Hingston, he's very active in Falmouth Marina.

Falmouth Yacht Brokers are the local main deal approved and I've also used them a lot over the years.

I wonder if anybody could help me. I need the help of a plymouth based engineer who can help me out with a high oil pressure problem on my twin disc gearbox. The trouble shooting manual calls for it to be cleaned out and / or a spring replaced, it's a bit beyond me, but probably too small a job to be of any interest to a marina based business.

The first check to make is if the gauge is correct. If you have two gearboxes, swap gauges.

thanks, I have already established [by swapping over gauges and senders] that its not a gauge or sender problem. The oil pressure gauge goes off the scale at both helms, even when the senders are swopped out. Like I say I need an engineer who can clean out the regulating valves and replace springs if necessary.

I'm aware we've hijacked the thread, but I've always used the MIT Group, the UK distributor. Paul is really helpful and may point you to the local agent.
